I was hoping to hook up with Brandon this morning for some 'eggo" fishing, but I think he decided to sleep in. frown

Landed my largest steelhead of my life today below a secret dam here in the valley. It taped out 39 inches and over 12 lbs. It was the first of three fish I landed today. Lot's of fish up there right now. Also landed my smallest steelhead of my life today at 19 inches.. freakin' hatchery genetics..

All fish were released into the hands of a friend here in my housing community for further inspection. smile

Eggo patterns in cherise did the job.

39" WOW that is big, my longest is 35.5. thats a beast!

Sorry steve, I had to hang with the daughter this morning. Actually I was waiting for my wife to wake up at 6:00 but when I woke up at 7 with her and the baby in the bed i knew something was up. So I hung till about noon and boy was it pissing. So i opted for other water, here are some pics that don't do these beasts justice.

Remind me to get your number again I don't have it on my new phone.

Is it just me or do those fish have adipose fins? Were there alot of misclips this year? As I assume I know where you are fishing.

Brandons fish are trout, not steelies. He was fishing somewhere else.

That makes much more sense, otherwise I was going to wonder about the large number of small steelies this year too. Thanks.

So, are there still steelhead coming up the willamette system, or are they basically all hanging out near the end of their trip?

Thinking about a spot downstream....

Looks like you guys had a couple great trips...

Sounds like you had a good time, Steve. But you're right, those are some really freaky hatchery genetics. Are you sure your 39 incher wasn't one of those "Meth-head" steelies?? Because at 39 inches, that sucker should be pretty close to 20#. It must have been a real snakey bugger!

I was thinking the fish would have to be at least 14-15, no way on the 20#, there just isn't enough girth this late in the year. although the biggest steelhead I have ever seen come out of there was caught in November and it had a huge girth. I am not sure of the length maybe clownegg can chime in it was one of the guys that use to work at his shop. That fish was huge! I remember watching him drag it up river thinking: Why the hell is he carrying that huge salmon up here until I saw it was a freakishly huge Double stripper Steelhead.
