My friend Andy and I decided to float the McKenzie for the native redsides one last time before the cold winter and high water. We put in at Bellinger and floated down to Armitage. The water was up a bit and breathable waders in themselves almost were not enough to withstand the cold water....especially since I had a hole in mine.

Fishing was tough, but "we" were rewarded with a few nice rainbows, courtesy of the mega prince. It was a day of serenity as the weather was fairly cooperative, the fish were hard fighting, the maples were fall yellow, and not another soul on the water........back to the real world of 8-5

It sounds like you had a great day, and got to see some fine Mckenzie trout to boot.

As for posting the photos, you used the link to the thumbnail rather than the full-size photo. Delete "thumbs/" from your image link, and you should be good to go.

I have not used the mega prince that much, but my friend loves it. I prefer the possie bugger, but a mega prince is nice because it gets the fly down real fast.....Have you used it elsewhere? Andy (above) was just on the Elk in B.C. and that was the ticket....

I love the mega price. I fish it in streams and stillwater. The legs give the classic prince a little extra life and imitates all kinds of critters.

Bingo. Took me a while to figure that out. I have trouble getting the link for the full size photos because that last little tab, dead center/bottom does not show up anymore.

Great piks!

San Juan,

Good to hear from you. I thought you stopped reading the stuff on this forum now that you are in the full swing of things over there....hurry back this summer. Too much good water to hit in Oregon and not enough free days....

I like to trim the hackle collar off the bottom side of the fly. You get a much more realistic drift when it rides a little lower.
