Uses

Irresistible-style flies are designed to float well in rough water. With a hair wing, as in this Wulff-style variation, it will stay afloat in the roughest conditions (but still needs to be dressed). Because the fly is used in fast, rough water, trout do not have time to look at it closely. Thus it does not need to be an exact imitation in either color or profile. It can also be a size bigger than the prevailing insects.

Variations

An Adams Irresistible is tied the same way, but has grizzly hen hackle tips for wings and uses brown and grizzly hackle. A Rat Face Irresistible is the same as an Adams Irresistible except the tail is yellow.

How to Fish

Dress the fly with floatant and use standard dry fly presentations.
