Uses

Parachute flies are extrordinarily useful, especially on slow to moderate currents. They ride low in the water and provide a realistic silhouette to trout. Use them when there is a hatch in progress and trout are taking duns from the surface.

Parachute flies don't float as well as heavier-hackled patterns, so seek another fly for rough or riffly water.

Variations

This dressing is for a blue-winged olive mayfly dun. Vary the size and color to match other mayfly species and even some small stoneflies.

How to Fish

Dress the fly with floatant and use standard dry fly presentations.
