Yellow Jacket
UsesImitates an adult yellowjacket (not a honey bee, but a member of the wasp family). Yellow jackets can be quite numerous. It depends on the spring: if it's a wet spring, the yellow jackets are drowned in their nests (they are ground nesters), but if it's a dry spring, there will be hoards of these aggressive meat-eaters by late July and August. When they are plentiful near a river, there are always a few that land in the water, and trout can become quite used to eating them. How to FishDress the fly with floatant and use standard dry fly presentations.
