Uses

This is an amalgamation of a few standard patterns from the east coast, where some anglers (especially on the Jackson River in Virginia) are much more in tune with black flies than Western anglers. It tends to be a little bulkier than the naturals and seems to get a few less strikes than the Beadhead Simuliid.

How to Fish

You can use this fly as a dropper off another imitation of a fastwater insect (Rithrogena mayfly, Rhyacophila caddis, Calineuria stonefly, etc). Fish it with a tight line or indicator presentation in fast, riffly water.
